❦General Overview[/size] The end of the world. It had to happen sooner or later. This isn't just the end of the human race, but the end of all things: of life, of death, of stars, of planets, of reality. Slowly, everything fades until there is no more.
Well, that's what should be happening. The humans of the planet Earth have died, but there's something keeping their dreams alive. As reality itself begins to unravel, the earth's landscape is changing, forming shadows of what it once was. Abandoned cities twist sideways through forests, while waterfalls spiral upward. Strange animals come out of nowhere, lumbering around for a while before fading.
Even worse, people from other worlds have begun to appear on the twisted ruins of earth. Many of them have found that they can twist the landscape to their liking, shaping a world of their own. The laws of physics do not apply any more. There are no laws, only the wills of those pulled from other worlds.

❦SettingIntroduction to Setting The RP takes place on Earth, as well as other planets. This section of the topic, however, deals with the setting on the dying Earth. Other planets are player-made.
Flora, Fauna and other Life Forms ○ Apart from those pulled into the world at random, the earth is uninhabited. People may see shells of living creatures, shadows of what once was, lumbering around, but their motions are mere mockeries of life. ○ There are monsters, though they, like all the other shells of living creatures, do not really live. These are born of the nightmares that plagued the humans of Earth before they all died. ○ Plants are the only exception of the "alive, but not really" rule. Various plants bloom in random places across the planet. They range from real plants, like redwood trees and bluebells, to ones that wouldn't be physically possible, like flowers made out of magazine clippings and camera bits.
Landscape ○ On Earth, the landscape changes often. Some structures may stay the way they are for longer periods of time than others. Those caught in the midst of these shifts often get hurt if they're not careful. ○ The landscape is often nonsensical. Glass trees jut in random angles from a lake standing on its side; cities curl and twist upon themselves; volcanoes bubble and spew fresh wildflowers. Players are encouraged to make stuff up as they go along.
Atmosphere ○ No matter what the landscape, the atmosphere seems thick and heavy. Light mists spring up from nowhere, filtering the light and making it seem as if the world is in a perpetual twilight. ○ There is no easily defined night and day. The sun has taken on an odd texture, seeming to dim and brighten up at random. When one looks into the sky, it looks as if someone splattered a few dozen fistfuls of stars into a background of black. ○ Temperatures fluctuate with the landscape. Thankfully, those pulled from other worlds can control the temperature.

❦Powers and LimitsGeneral Due to the nature of this RP, characters may shape the world to their liking. However, this does not give players license to go insane and break the RP in the process. The power over the land and its limitations are outlined below.
Shaping the Land ○ All characters, human or not, no matter what age, shape, size, skin color, etc., can shape the land to their will. ○ The area a person can shape is called an Influence. ○ Characters can't affect the whole world at once. At most, one person can shape a circular area with a 30-mile (48.2 km) diameter. ○ The way a person shapes the land is called a "style." ○ Each style is a reflection of a person's innermost being. Even if a person tries to make a wonderful, happy land full of sunshine and rainbows, there will be parts of the Influence that reflect their darker feelings and thoughts. ○ If two people stand next to each other and try to twist the land in different ways, it creates a mix between the two styles.
What they Can Do ○ Those molding the land can change things like terrain, temperature, and weather. They can also raise structures, such as buildings, to their will. They may also destroy existing structures by breaking it down and using it as something else. ○ Even before they discover just how much they can shape, a person shapes the area directly around them to reflect the world they're used to. This instinct allows them to exist in a world totally different from theirs without dying straight away.
Limits ○ Although those shaping the land can create trees and other forms of plant life, even to the point where they can make up their own plants, they cannot make animals or humans. If they try, the best they'll get is a twisted mockery of life, something that is alive yet not alive. ○ These things that are alive, yet not alive, will do either one of two things: 1.) act perfectly under the control of the one that created them or, 2.) if the creator is particularly weak, run wild and be generally detrimental to all those with which they come into contact. How they are detrimental often reflects the mentality of the one that created them. ○ Shaping the land for long periods of time is tiring. At the most, a person can continue warping the landscape for an hour or so before having to stop for the day. ○ Shaping the land does not happen in a flash. If a person does it too quickly, things can go wrong. As the person focuses, various shapes appear upon the earth's surface. The surface itself is molded via hand motions.
Other Powers ○ Things like magic and superpowers are indeed allowed. If your character has a magical background, they can use magic on top of their ability to shape the land. ○ If a character who could not use magic create an influence in which magic existed, they would be able to preform what at first would look like magic, but is only the effect of shaping the land. ○ When creating a character that knows magic or has a superpower, do not overpower your character. If your character’s power includes mind control or transformations of any sort, make sure to obtain the permission of other players before you have your character use that power on the other characters.

❦Influences ○ For every post a character makes, they earn 3 exp. ○ At 60 exp (20 in-character posts), players have the option to apply for an Influence. ○ OOC forums do not add to one's post count. ○ Influences are the tracts of land a character has molded to their liking. ○ Once an Influence has been set, no other characters can change that Influence. ○ If you wish to apply for an Influence, fill in the form here and post it in the Influence Database forum. Players can then roam one's Influence as they please. ○ Keep in mind that the structure of the Influence reflects the character's inner mind. ○ That being said, the more complex and "complete" an Influence becomes, the greater the shadows that stalk it. ○ There is a special forum for playing Influences. If you'd like to play in a specific Influence, then you must place the Influence's name in brackets in the topic title or state it at the beginning of your post. ○ Those that keep their characters on one account must keep track of how many posts each character has. Threads dedicated to this task belong in the Plot section of the OOC forums.
