Area Name: Union City
General Structure Union City is designed in several circular patterns, giving it the nickname of "the Circle City."
At it's central mass lays Centenial Park. The park is dense woodland, with areas cleared for well manicured lawns. On the property you can find a small ampitheather, and a war memorial dedicated to WWII hero Captain Cannonball.
Surrounding the park is a ring of skyscrapers, major buisnesses, hotels, casinos, and high rise apartment buildings. This constitutes Union City's downtown.
North of the park is Lake Shatner. This freshwater lake supports both industry and leisure.
To the west of Lake Shatner is Union City's industrial sector. Tall smokestacks pump smoke and fumes into the atmosphere. Many abandoned factories and warehouses dot the area. This area houses both the homeless and street gangs.
East of Lake Shatner is where the wealthy live. On lush green yards, behind tall gates and fences, million dollar homes sit- separate from the common man.
The remaining portions of the city are filled with apartment buildings and privet residences. Everything you would expect to see in a city.
Negative aspects:
Union City has plenty of threats. Like most major cities, there is crime on the streets, potential threats from wayward vehicles, and illnesses.
However, there are also threats unique to the city.
Ghoul Trees: these are carnivorous trees that drop large fruit. These fruits look humanoid in appearance, and stand three feet tall. The fruit is toxic to the touch, generating a sticky poison that causes paralysis. Worst still, the fruit can attack other creatures and drag them back into a hallow spot in the Ghoul Tree where the victim is digested.
Skyfalls: Occassionally, incredibly strong, freak storms arise in the city. Instead of producing rain, these skyfalls produce all manner of dangerous materials, raining down on the citizens. Skyfalls have been known to include fish, frogs, slime, blood, and even alligators.
Extreem acts of terror: It is hard to define what one thing will cause extreem terror. Sometimes it's a super-powered villain. Sometimes machines run amuck. Sometimes it's an alien invasion. Durring all of these extreem events, people panic and can be harmed or killed.
Thought Process: Union City is styled like Gotham City from Batman the Animated Series. It looks like a formerly great city, with a little grime smeared over it's 30's facade. There are also elements of steampunk within the world. Look at games like Bioshock for some additional inspiration.
Government: Union City's government is made up of a city council, consisting of three members. These positions are voted on in a popular vote every five years. Any citizen over the age of 18 may vote, as well as run for office.
Many of the vices found in society are legal in Union City, provided you are licensed, maintain health codes, and pay taxes. Leagal drugs are available from the hospital. Leagal sex and gambling are available at downtown casinos.
In general, as long as you aren't harming another being, you are not breaking the law.
Residence: Random-Man lives in a small home within the southern suburbs. His home only stands out because of the rainbarrels, large gardens, and solar panels.
Threads: none yet.

Buildings: Union City sports several structures of importance. They include:
Union City Municipal Hopspital (UCMH): built with one large central building, and two towers, UCMH is located on the southern shores of Lake Shatner. The East tower houses the mental health facility, simply called East Tower. The west tower is home to an advanced pediatric hospital. Both towers can only be accessed by one elevator each. Patients have sensors locked onto them, that disable elevators and sound alarms if patients are taken away from where they should be.
St. Ares Cathedral: Home to the warrior preachers. This temple stands tall, like a sword piercing the sky.
The El and Skywalks: the El is Union City's elevated train. This train travels twenty feet above the city, and takes commuters to several stops thought the city. El trains are designed with Art Deco lines and painted silver with brass fittings.
The sky walks are large, glass tubes that connect buildings and El stops throughout the city. These are used to keep pedestrians off the streets, protect them from the weather, and major utility lines can be ran under the tubes.
Plants: Plants are fairly normal in Union City. There are some exceptions thought. First, only fruit being trees grow in the city. You won't find a maple or pine. These fruit trees can however grow to amazing size.
Two rare plants grow within the city. The Tomeato is a plant that grows meatballs. It's odd, and sometimes attracts flies. The other plant is the Ghoul Tree. See more info in the hazards section.
Roads: Roads are pavement. They are in generally good repair in public ares and well to do neighborhoods. Within the slums, these roads are rough, and filled with potholes.
Average Temperature: temperatures range anywhere between 25 and 50 degrees ferinhieght during the winter. Durring the summer the temperature soars tbetween 70 and 110 degrees ferinheight.
Noise level: Union City can be a very noisy place. With cars, pedestrians, El Trains, and factories, the city always seems to be bustling. The places with the most peace are the WWII memorial in Centenial Park, sailing on Lake Shatner, and the well to do communities of the north east side of town.
